About us

The DIOCESAN PASTORAL called PYGMEES WAMBA is the commission in charge of the organization of all the activities aiming at helping the Pygmies living in the Diocese of Wamba.

The commission was founded by Mgr. Kataka, the current Bishop of the Diocese of Wamba, in 1998 as a golden mean for the UNITY and CONTINUITY of the Diocesan common plan able to drive to good term and team up the various projects and initiatives of missionaries and parishes existing in the Wamba area. The P.D.Py.W is composed of four full time responsible members and a restraint committee with decision-making function and administration

An extended Diocesan commission meets once a year. Its members (Parish Priests, Lay People committed in the Pastoral of Pygmies) come from different Parishes (Sectors). During the meeting, they bring fourth problems that they face in their respective areas. They also make others aware of their achievements besides bringing forward some constructive propositions helping in the elaboration of a common project.

Pygmies, from all the sectors (men and women together with their Animators and Pastoral agents), once a year, are also called to talk out and bring forward their suggestions, and their plans…

The executive (Restraint) Committee evaluate all the proposals and present them to the Extended Diocesan Commission in due time. The main focus here is to have a common plan for all the activities.

In a nutshell, that is the way the cycle of “participation” in a common project is structured.
